Boing Boing zine

Boing Boing, the "a modern cabinet of curiosities" as David Pescovitz describes it, started out as a zine. This is no surprise because most great publications is rooted in zine culture. It is about an attitude (f-you big money), work ethic (I'll do it on my own time), and aesthetic (ugly is the new beautiful).

Forest Small Books Three:
Things on Walls, Volume One.

I've been only picking up low-production and clean zines. This is one of my favorites.

Forest is a graphic design studio based in Los Angeles.
Their most recognizable work is the redesigned of Anthem magazine.
Occasionally they will publish these mini books or zines (5" x 7"). The concept for this one, Things on Walls, is basically an organized display of wall clutter. Small notes about the production of this zine: the use of color paper really changes everything, the use of half-tone pattern is really smart because it brings up the contrast and prevents resolution deterioration, and consistent layout balances out the collage-type photos.
